ARE YOUR SERVICES COVERED BY MY INSURANCE?
This is a fee for service clinic. Nurse Practitioners do not bill OHIP for services provided. All patients must pay for assessments and treatments. Some insurance plans will cover appointments if they provide extended health benefits or a health benefits spending account.
HOW DOES BOTOX WORK? IS IT SAFE?
Botox is the trade name for botulinum toxin type A, one of several different toxins produced by Clostridium bacteria. The bacterium itself is not injected. The injected toxin is a protein manufactured by the bacterium, and when injected, it temporarily paralyzes the muscles underlying wrinkles, smoothing out the skin on top. It inhibits the nerve terminal, so that the muscle will not respond, sensation is not lost, and the nerve eventually sprouts a new terminal. Botox is successfully being used in areas of the face, neck, and body world wide, and to date is safer than the origin suggests.
WHAT IS THE RECOVERY TIME?
Botox injections cause almost no redness or swelling. You may drive yourself to and from the treatments and resume normal activities immediately. It is important not to rub the area, to excessively sweat, or lay down for several hours afterwards to optimize results.
WHAT IS AN EPISODIC VIRTUAL APPOINTMENT? WHAT CAN I BE SEEN FOR ONLINE VS. IN PERSON?
Not all visits are safe to see online. Things that can be easily discussed with a virtual appointment include weight loss, prescription renewals, lab assessments, obvious dermatology concerns ie rash, acne, menopause and HRT, mental health appointments. However, concerns such as acute pain, cardiac or respiratory disease, well baby appointments, etc., these things need to be addressed in person to provide the safest and most effective care.
WHY DO YOU WORK AT DIFFERENT LOCATIONS? WHAT IS THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN THEM?
Great question! Let’s break down the locations and what I do at each one. HM Day Spa in Huntsville is a spa where I only offer aesthetics/wellness care, such as botox and wellness injections ie B12, NAD+, and IV infusions.
At Almaguin Health & Wellness, I offer all of my services, including primary care, aesthetics, IV infusions wellness injections, and Lab draws.
I also have a virtual platform (you can book online via the book appointment button at the top for your screen) where I can offer primary care to those who do not have access to the in person appointments.
